ABSTRACT:
Recausticizing trains in kraft pulp mills were reviewed and the causticizing efficiencies evaluated.
Non-uniformity and non-optimal reaction conditions prevented the production of a continuous high quality white liquor with causticizing efficiencies at the practical maximum levels. Improved operation at these levels will decrease deadload sodium carbonate concentrations and liquor flows to the digesters and black liquor system.
Cost savings can be substantial due to the decrease in required fossil fuel for steam production.
